Where Have I Been?

Hey, it’s been a while. The last time I posted on my blog was around the end of December, and since then, I have not been active. I went away due to my wedding that happened in January. I was busy finalizing my family for the wedding and finishing final touches to the wedding. January was a stressful month for me. I had other priorities at the moment. When my wedding day finally happened, I was happy and relieved; I’m not going to lie. Wedding planning at the beginning, but when it gets closer to the date that’s when everything becomes stressful! I’d recommend getting help! You can’t plan your own wedding alone! I was blessed with my sister-in-law who became my wedding planner and coordinator. I could have not done it without her, my family, and friends! And now, I’m married to my best friend, my husband. The wedding was a lot of fun and I will always cherish it. I will upload a couple pictures from my wedding a bit later this month.

After the wedding, came my honeymoon with my husband. We headed out to Portland and Seattle. I explored the Pacific Northwest and loved every moment. I had weather shock! I’m a Californian and it is usually warm down here. I was not prepared for colder weather, but my body got adjusted to the cold weather. And I survived. It wasn’t snowing, nor was it too rainy like I’d imagine it to be. I will say is this, the coffee was amazing!! I went to several coffee shops throughout my trip and explored the city, mostly by transit. I went to several bookstores, and did end up buying books. My honeymoon was a lot of fun. I got to spend every moment with my husband. I want to go back to the Pacific Northwest again!! It was a lot of fun. Next time, I want to go during spring or summer.

I am still getting adjusted to my new living situation. Let’s just say that it is definitely an upgrade. At the moment, I’m at school. Last semester in community college!! I’m taking four classes. I’m trying my best not to procrastinate this semester and pass my classes. When I don’t feel motivated, I watch study videos on YouTube and peruse studyblr on Tumblr. It works for me! Besides that, I’ll start university this coming fall. I am excited and a bit scared, but I will be hopeful about starting upper division courses!! I did get accepted to the university I always wanted to attend. I am so, so happy that I can finally be one step closer to achieving one of my life’s goal! I know that it will be tough, but I will get my BA.

Other than that, I have read a couple books over my absence. Though I have read some books, I had a reading slump. I dropped the books that I was reading such as Heartless and Prince of Fools. Those books were not bad!! But I didn’t feel like reading. I will pick them up again for this month. I have noticed that I find myself reaching for other genres at the moment. I have gotten a bit bored with YA, but that does not mean that I will drop that genre entirely. The books that I have read so far are We Should All Be Feminists, This Is Portland, Snotgirl, and Beauty & The Beast. I have not worked on my reviews yet, but they will be up soon! In order to be more efficient with my time management, I will create a new blog schedule so I can utilize my free time and update my blog more often! I started bullet journaling in order to be more organized. It has helped tremendously when it comes to school, but I will also apply it to blogging. Sorry that I kinda went away without making a post about it. But, I am back and I feel motivated to continue my blog! I have a feeling that 2017 will be a great year for blogging!

Monthly Favorites: May 2016

Hey, and good evening! I am so happy today because I finally have internet again! Woot woot! I’ve missed it so much. It really felt like I was living in the 2000s again. The month of May went by quicker than I had expected! I know this list might be a little late. So here are my favorites:

I didn’t buy books for May, but I did end up getting three free books. Now here’s the story: My fiance and I were driving around a neighborhood near Belmont Shore. He was driving back home, but accidentally turned onto a different route. In the corner of the street there was a wagon filled with books. Free books. That’s right.

There were several book! I was a bit overwhelmed, but there were three promising books that I took with me that day. The books I hauled where Night Film by Marisha Pessl, Sprig Muslin by Georgette Heyer, The Garden Of Good And Evil by John Berendt. I might try to go there this month for more free books.

One of the movies that I was looking forward to seeing since Winter Solider, was Captain America: Civil War. The movie was terrific!!! What I really appreciate from the Captain America series is that with each movie, it gets better. (Unlike the Ironman movies). Now, the story was well done, and the action scenes were amazing!! I have to say that Black Panther and Spiderman really stole the show for me. Also, I liked the buildup to Scarlet Witch, and Vision’s relationship.

I’ve watched much more anime than I had expected for this month. It’s been so long since I’ve kept up with the anime from this season. I haven’t started Boku Hero Academia or Joker Game. I hope I can start those two really soon.

Bungou Stray Dogs  is by far my favorite anime for this season. I like the pacing of the show. One bookish fact is that the characters are based off Japanese authors. One of my favorite guys happens to be Osamu Dazai, and I happen to have read No Longer Human. I might create a Bungou Stray Dogs reading challenge after I finish the show.

Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto is hilarious. I laugh at every episode. If you like watching Gintama, then I’d recommend this one!! It’s so much fun.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World took me a while to really get attached to it. The pacing is definitely slow, but it’s worth watching. The twins are my favorite from the bunch.

I’m the type of person to collect journals, but I never end up writing in them. That’s right…I’m a journal hoarder. I do have a journal for blogging which I regularly use, but not one for my personal life. I’ve challenged myself to write at least a couple sentences a day. I used to be really committed to journaling when I was ten years younger. It feels like it’s been forever since I started writing down my thoughts. I’ve been doing good so far, though I write slower than before. Ha ha.

Hey, and good day! I don’t have internet at the moment, so it’s a bit hard to be online for now. Luckily, I shall have internet in my home soon. Now, I wanted to talk about something. Followers!

How I Started:

I was always very hesitant when it came to starting a blog. My first two attempts on creating a blog was almost a decade ago on blogspot. Those two blogs had little to do with books actually, but instead more geared towards my thoughts. Occasionally, I would write a book review. Those two blogs didn’t last long.

So, it was about two years ago when I started my blog. I really didn’t know what to expect at all. Ha ha. I’ll be honest, I had no clue when it came to blogging, especially about books.I was jumping around the idea of a book blog after much encouragement from friends and family since they know I read fast. But, I went for it.I knew what I wanted to say, but I couldn’t form it into a post. I was confused by weekly memes such as Top Ten Tuesday and Top 5 Wednesday, and blog awards too. Eventually, I grasped the concept. Ha ha. Even to this day, I’m still learning how to blog.

My original blog name on WordPress was mytokyoblues, but I’ve changed it to The Reading Belle. I love to read and I love Princess Belle. Ha ha. I thought it was unique. tumblr_inline_niyn5ntHcI1ry72eo

My Advice To New Bloggers:

  • Have a journal – Why? I use a journal to write down all my ideas when it comes to a book review and doing weekly memes. It helps me keep on track when it comes to a post.
  • Participate in Weekly Memes – Why? They are fun and it’s a great way to get introduced to other book bloggers.
  • Interact with other bloggers!!! – I cannot stress this enough!shooting star.gif

December Uppercase Unboxing

Hello world! Here is my unboxing video of my Uppercase box. I have the expert plan which is the most popular plan!

The Book:

not if i see you first

Goodreads Synopsis:

The Rules:

Don’t deceive me. Ever. Especially using my blindness. Especially in public.

Don’t help me unless I ask. Otherwise you’re just getting in my way or bothering me.

Don’t be weird. Seriously, other than having my eyes closed all the time, I’m just like you only smarter.

Parker Grant doesn’t need 20/20 vision to see right through you. That’s why she created the Rules: Don’t treat her any differently just because she’s blind, and never take advantage. There will be no second chances. Just ask Scott Kilpatrick, the boy who broke her heart.

When Scott suddenly reappears in her life after being gone for years, Parker knows there’s only one way to react-shun him so hard it hurts. She has enough on her mind already, like trying out for the track team (that’s right, her eyes don’t work but her legs still do), doling out tough-love advice to her painfully naive classmates, and giving herself gold stars for every day she hasn’t cried since her dad’s death three months ago. But avoiding her past quickly proves impossible, and the more Parker learns about what really happened–both with Scott, and her dad–the more she starts to question if things are always as they seem. Maybe, just maybe, some Rules are meant to be broken.

Usually, I sit with my sisters and cousins when it comes to Christmas Dinner. There isn’t arranged seating and everyone just picks where they want to sit. 1.  My family! Christmas is the perfect holiday to bring relatives closer together. I really enjoy celebrating Christmas at my house and I love seeing my baby cousins. I love taking goofy pictures with my sisters and cracking jokes with the adults.
  2. Decorating the Christmas tree! Each year we add new ornaments to our usual Christmas tree. My sisters and I spend most of the time shopping for new ornaments this time of year. We like making our tree stand out.
  3. Holiday drinks. I go to Starbucks and Coffee Bean a lot more now that they have holiday drinks!
  4. I love wearing ugly christmas sweaters, but I find it fun to create your own design! This was me a couple years ago:DIY Christmas Sweater
