Monthly Favorites: May 2016

Hey, and good evening! I am so happy today because I finally have internet again! Woot woot! I’ve missed it so much. It really felt like I was living in the 2000s again. The month of May went by quicker than I had expected! I know this list might be a little late. So here are my favorites:

I didn’t buy books for May, but I did end up getting three free books. Now here’s the story: My fiance and I were driving around a neighborhood near Belmont Shore. He was driving back home, but accidentally turned onto a different route. In the corner of the street there was a wagon filled with books. Free books. That’s right.

There were several book! I was a bit overwhelmed, but there were three promising books that I took with me that day. The books I hauled where Night Film by Marisha Pessl, Sprig Muslin by Georgette Heyer, The Garden Of Good And Evil by John Berendt. I might try to go there this month for more free books.

One of the movies that I was looking forward to seeing since Winter Solider, was Captain America: Civil War. The movie was terrific!!! What I really appreciate from the Captain America series is that with each movie, it gets better. (Unlike the Ironman movies). Now, the story was well done, and the action scenes were amazing!! I have to say that Black Panther and Spiderman really stole the show for me. Also, I liked the buildup to Scarlet Witch, and Vision’s relationship.

I’ve watched much more anime than I had expected for this month. It’s been so long since I’ve kept up with the anime from this season. I haven’t started Boku Hero Academia or Joker Game. I hope I can start those two really soon.

Bungou Stray Dogs  is by far my favorite anime for this season. I like the pacing of the show. One bookish fact is that the characters are based off Japanese authors. One of my favorite guys happens to be Osamu Dazai, and I happen to have read No Longer Human. I might create a Bungou Stray Dogs reading challenge after I finish the show.

Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto is hilarious. I laugh at every episode. If you like watching Gintama, then I’d recommend this one!! It’s so much fun.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World took me a while to really get attached to it. The pacing is definitely slow, but it’s worth watching. The twins are my favorite from the bunch.

I’m the type of person to collect journals, but I never end up writing in them. That’s right…I’m a journal hoarder. I do have a journal for blogging which I regularly use, but not one for my personal life. I’ve challenged myself to write at least a couple sentences a day. I used to be really committed to journaling when I was ten years younger. It feels like it’s been forever since I started writing down my thoughts. I’ve been doing good so far, though I write slower than before. Ha ha.

Monthly Favorites: April 2016

Hey, and good evening! April was such a fast paced month for me. I don’t even know how I can summarize it.

One of my new favorite brands is Milani when it comes to matte lipsticks. Since I am dark, most the lipsticks look great on my skin tone. My favorite lipstick at the moment is called Matte Beauty. It’s a brown color with a small hint of orange, that’s the best way to describe it. Other colors that I like from Milani are Matte Flirty, Matte Glam, and Matte Love.

I’ve always wanted to dye my hair a pastel color, but my work is not too keen on “radical colors” so I can’t dye my hair. But, I have a new found love for wigs. I only bought two at the moment. Both wigs are from eBay. I’m planning on buying one grey wig and a purple one as well.

Which one do you prefer? Pink or blue. Please comment below.

This is one of my favorite pictures of last month. The roses were blooming quite beautifully. I was reading The ‘Ohana Tree at the time, which I highly recommend.

The gym finally opened up near my house. I am trying to get fit for my wedding. It’s going to take a lot of work, but I’m having fun. I’m going to try to listen to audiobooks while I work out. Most of the time I’m listening to KPOP. I am so happy that I can be on the treadmill and read my kindle at the same time. Well, I shall see. Other than that, Yallwest was amazing! It was such a great way to end the month.

Strawberry acai with coconut milk, no water. Tastes just like the strawberry calpico drink.

Rin-ne is hilarious and so much fun to watch. Rumiko Takahashi never fails to disappoint with her works. Other than that, I’m planning on watching more shows for this month and hopefully one Korean drama.

Monthly Favorites: March 2016

Hello, and good evening! I’ve been planning on posting this on April 1st, but I’ve been busy with work and trying to balance my social life. Ha ha. Anyways, March was a good month!

  • Trying to be more active on Bookstagram. I don’t post every day, and I should be motivated to be a bit more active! Anyways, here is my favorite picture from March (even though the book was not so great…)the new guy and other senior distractions .jpg

  • Batman Vs Superman: I really had low expectations for this movie because I trust Rotten Tomatoes’ ratings. After watching it, I liked the movie. Sure it was boring at some parts, and then it tried to cram in a lot of things towards the end, but I liked it. Wonder Woman stole the show! That is a fact. I’m so stoked for the Wonder Woman movie!! I also liked Ben Affleck as Batman since he portrayed Bruce Wayne as a much older Batman who is not in his prime. Other than that, I didn’t like Lex at all and I felt he was too over the top!

  • I’m engaged! I’ve been looking for wedding venues, and it’s probably one of the most frustrating things! Seriously! When you fall in love with a place, just make sure that you get quotes before deciding on that place! I might write about wedding advice and tips on having an affordable wedding in Southern California.

  • Jessica Jones: It took forever to finish it since I was watching it with my boyfriend, normally I would have finished it within a week. The show was amazing and really dark. The casting was phenomenal and Kilgrave was probably one of my favorite. I loved David Tennet as The Doctor, and he was amazing as the villain. I really want a season 2.
  • Selector Infected/Spread Wixoss: I loved this anime so much! It was a mix of magical girl and Yugioh. It was dark, and the characters were great. I loved the opening songs for both seasons, and if I had to pick my favorite character it would be Chiyori. She was so cute and relatable. Though she has the least appearances. I would recommend this show for fans of Yuki Yuna Is A Hero and Magica Madoka.
  • Erased: I keep recommending Erased to pretty much everyone. It’s a good psychological anime, and it’s one of my favorites for the winter 2016 anime slot. I have a spoiler free review if you want to check it out!
