This weeks topic is Books I DNF…I have to admit that when a book or a series sucks, I immediately drop it and move on. For my list, I want to focus on manga series that I have dropped completely.
Fairy Tale: I really tried reading this series after so many recommendations, but I couldn’t…I really tried. Nope. Nope. Nope. It’s one manga series that I will not read even after it ends. I suggest you read One Piece, trust me.
Mairunovich: I forced myself to read this one even to the point of no return. I don’t recommend it. Horrible protagonist.
Black Bird: I was not a fan of the love interest. I just forgot about this series.
He’s Dedicated To Roses: Corny and cliche, and frustrating…
Faster Than A Kiss: I didn’t like the pace of the protagonist’s relationship…and it was a little too much for me.
This week’s theme:Books That Feature Time Travel! I’ve only read two books that include time travel which are The Time Traveler’s Wife and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. For this week, I will be listing books that I want to read that are about time travel.
Outlander – I watch the show and I love it! I must read the book soon!
The Time Machine – Always wanted to read the book! Good thing I have it on my shelf!
A Wrinkle In Time – I don’t remember what happened in this book. Read it in middle school, and I remember loving it.
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August – I keep hearing so many great reviews!
Passenger – Some of my favorite reviewers either love it or hate it. I want to check it out for myself!
This week’s theme: Book Hangover! According to Urban Dictionary, a book hangover is:
When you’ve finished a book and you suddenly return to the real world, but the real world feels incomplete or surreal because you’re still living in the world of the book.
Also, I realized that this post is being published on a Thursday. Whoops, my bad! I took a nap and the looked at the time, it’s currently midnight. Anyways, here are my picks for my worst book hangovers.
The Harry Potter Series: I read these books all the way through. I did not touch any other books when I was reading this series. Even though I read other books once I finished the series, I couldn’t stop thinking of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Can’t wait for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!!
The Lunar Chronicles: Another fun series that has sadly ended. Every book in the series was amazing. It kept getting better. Sometimes I look at my bookshelf and want to pick up Cinder again. I’m reading Stars Above at the moment, and I am so excited for the Epilogue.
The Winner’s Trilogy: I am emotionally drained. That second book left me devastated…oh my stars, when I think about a book hangover, this series pops into my head a lot. I am excited to finish this series.
A Thousand Splendid Suns: It took me two months to read another book when I finished A Thousand Splendid Suns. It shattered me more than the Kite Runner. I couldn’t read for three months, and this was when I was in high school.
Honolulu: It’s a historical fiction book written by Alan Brennert. It’s a standalone novel, but this book was amazing! I couldn’t pick up another book once I finished it. It made me cry so much. I was in a reading slump when I finished this book, about three weeks.
This week’s theme: Worst Love Interests! There are plenty of books that have amazing love interests, but sometimes you can encounter a love interest that you hate. It happens. These are my picks for the worst love interests…
Falling For Sakura: There are good reverse harem books, but then there are terrible ones. It was a guilty pleasure, but almost all the guys were horrible love interests. Ha ha!
Hello, I Love You: Grace Wilde was so annoying. She really was a terrible and whiny. She really needed a slap.
The Selection Series: America was so frustrating. I really don’t understand what Prince Maxon saw in her. All she did was get mad at him…her daughter is more likable in my opinion.
Hot Gimmick: I was so disappointed that the protagonist chose Ryoki…I liked the actor guy much better. I have to reread this manga since I read it back in middle school.
The 52nd: I couldn’t stand both protagonists now that I think about it. =͟͟͞͞( •̀д•́)))
This week’s theme: Books You Were Spoiled For. I really try to avoid spoilers as much as I can, but there are instances when either a friend or Tumblr spoils a book for me. Sometimes it’s envitable, spoilers are always around the corner.
Here are my picks:
Harry Potter: Now, I did not grow up reading Harry Potter, it was about two years ago when I first picked the series up. I stopped watching the movies since the fourth one when it came out. Anyways, book 6 and 7 got spoiled for me. I still continued reading the series, but I would have been more emotional if I had not known what was going to happen.
Mockingjay: After finishing Catching Fire, a friend spoiled the last book for me. I couldn’t pick up the last book. I ended up just watching the movies instead. Ha ha.
Allegiant: I had no intentions of continuing the Divergent series. I don’t regret knowing the ending.
Breaking Dawn: When I was a teenager way back in the day, I liked the Twilight Series. It was good, but not amazing. Anyways, I really liked Jacob. He was my favorite character, and once again, friends spoiled the ending for me. To this day, I have not touched Breaking Dawn even though it is collecting dust on my bookshelf.
Flowers of Evil: It’s a Korean manhwa, that series was my guilty pleasure back in the day. My sister’s friend spoiled the ending. I was so close to finishing the series too, but I really hated the way it ended.
This week’s topic is Favorite Buzzwords! Here are my favorite buzzwords!
Fairy Tale Retellings: I just love fairy tales and I love retellings. I pretty much read any book that has a retelling. One of my favorite fairy tales is The Little Mermaid, and I haven’t found a good retelling for it.
Historical: I love reading historical books!! One of my favorite authors is Lisa See and her books are amazing!!!
Anticipated: Whenever I see that a book is anticipated, I immediately start checking out the synopsis and spoiler free reviews!
Heartbreaking: I love reading a good book that can make me cry!!
Mental Health: I do enjoy reading about complex protagonists and their struggles.
This week’s theme: Five Favorite Fandoms. Oh this one is a tough one for me because I have so many fandoms to pick from!! Anyways, here are my choices!!
The Harry Potter Fandom! I love, love, love Harry Potter. It’s a series that I would reread over and over again. I constantly recommend this series to my family and friends that have not read it. It’s really fun and there are many sad moments. I feel the most attached to this series, more than any other book series.
The One Piece Fandom! This one is a bit obvious since it is one of my all time favorite ongoing series. I read every new chapter that gets released and I like watching the anime as well, though I do avoid watching the fillers. You grow to love the Straw Hat Pirates and other characters. This series is really fun, and it can make you cry at times. I am still not over Ace’s death.
The Disney Fandom! I grew up watching Disney movies since I was a young child. Disney movies are my favorite. I love the old classic animated movies, and I love the news one as well. The movies I constantly rewatch are Hercules, Pocahontas, and Cinderella. I love singing along to the songs, and it’s one fandom that I truly love.
The Studio Ghibli Fandom! I love watching most of the movies from Studio Ghibli! The movies are sweet and fun to watch. I actually have a collection of most of the films too. Hayao Miyazaki’s films are my favorites. Now, my favorite film are Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky.
The Friends Fandom! Now, as a child I did not like watching Friends. I didn’t get the humor at all, but now as an adult I really love the show. I regret now watching it sooner! I love the fact that it’s on Netflix! I can binge watch the episodes and I never get tired of it. I love Chandler and Joey, they are my favorite characters.
This week’s theme: Five Series I Want To Start Next Year. I’ve been really loving fantasy at the moment and most of the books on this list are fantasy! The books on the list will be added to my bookish resolutions of this upcoming year. ʅʕ•ᴥ•ʔʃ
I keep hearing that Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes is such a great series. I’ve read nothing but positive reviews for this book. It’s fantasy
The Throne Of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas has been on my to be read pile for quite some time. Almost everyone I know loves this series and it is highly recommended to me. I heard that the protagonist is an assassin! Hopefully I can read this series soon.
I bought the Mistborn Series during Black Friday. Now that I own the series, I really want to read it as soon as possible!!! Since 2016 is right around the corner, I might pick up the first book in January!
The Abhorsen Series by Garth Nix is a series I really want to pick up! I read the synopsis and loved it!
I watched Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (My Little Monster) when it first came out! I really liked the anime, and now that the manga is completed, I want to read it!
